JISD delays surplus property auction The Jasper Independent School District Board of Trustees met Monday, April 9, to consider only one action item - the postponement of a previously scheduled auction of surplus property and equipment that was to be held April 28. The Board approved postponement to a later date but prior to August 31. The new date will be announced and publicized as soon as it is confirmed with the auctioneer. The District Site Base Committee announced selections for two $500 mini-grants during the spring semester. Four are awarded annually, two in the fall and two in the spring. Renesha Chambers, third grade Title I reading lab teacher received one of the grants to purchase the Rock-N-Learn educational program of DVD's, audio CD's and student workbooks based on fun and easy ways to learn phonics skills that lead to reading and spelling success. The other grant went to seventh grade English teacher Janella Betz for a program called The Ever-Changing Novels project based on "Choose Your Own Adventure" novels. The purpose of the project is to provide a unique writing experience and creative outlet for seventh grade gifted and talented students and Pre-AP students. These students will create an ever-changing novel. The grant will allow the student novels to be published. |
