Students of the week
Fermin Gonzalez, a senior at Jasper High School, has been selected as Student of the Week for April 2-6. "I taught Fermin last year, and he was a great student and always scored high on all of his work and projects," said teacher Debbie Smith. "Fermin is diligently seeking to make a difference in our society and has made a difference in JHS." He worked with Accelerated School Projects by creating flyers for the Accelerated School Winter Extravaganva. He is currently working on a project for Mrs. Erwin's Science Department to enhance student's success in Science vocabulary. Gonzales is also enrolled in dual credit at Angelina College. "He is the best writer I have seen from JHS in a long time," said English instructor Mr. Johnson. "He is a good student." He is the son of Ventura and Armandina Gonzales. Jasper Junior High William Miller, a seventh grade student at Jasper Junior High School, has been selected as Student of the Week for April 9-13. "Will is a student who not only does what it takes to succeed in the classroom but spends time doing activities outside of the education such as 4H," said teacher Howard Bailey. "He is a polite and well spoken young man who will take the time to make sure projects are complete and in order."
He is the son of Jimmy and Dru Miller. Jasper Junior High Michaela Lowery, an eighth grade student at Jasper Junior High School, has been selected as Student of the Week for March 19-23. "Michaela is an excellent art student. She is very creative and enjoys making art projects," said teacher Debbie Simmons. "Michaela is always eager to start a new project and is a great example for other students. I enjoy having her in my classroom." Lowery enjoys creating crafts, drawing, and caring for her pets during her spare time. Her favorite subject is art. She is the daughter of Clay and Jacqueline Williams.
