Early racing events exceed expectations
Motorama Speedway's first ASCS Sprint show of the season exceeded all expectations. Rain all during the week gave way to cooler , windy weather on race day as cars following the Gulf South Sprint tour wheeled through the pit gate in droves. They performed eight spell-binding races before a packed house. In the early heats, four flips were registered, but the 2006 Driver of the Year, Jason Johnson of Louisiana, found everything about the Good Friday show to his liking. He won his heat and dashed into victory lane adding another feature trophy to his collection. Terry Gray took the runner up honors home to Tennessee. Both "hot shoes" have raced with the World of Outlaws. The sprints will return to Motorama action on May 18 .
Three of the regular Motorama classes were racing on the same program. Double wins were posted by Britt Seaman, pure stock, and John O. Whittington, limited modified. In the mod. stock division Bubba Haynes and his dad, Ernest, shared top honors. Bubba won the heat but "PaPa" put the feature pay check in his pocket.
The track is located on W. Hwy. 90 between Beaumont and China. Gates open every Friday at 5 p.m. with racing underway at 8 p.m. For more race information call 409-752-7200 or visit www.motoramaspeedway. com.
