Girls send trio to Region III

Sells Dogs only entry at Humble

      John Sells will be Jasper's lone track entry at the Regional meet in Humble, April 26-27. Sells was third in a tight race for the 200-meter dash. His time of 22.86 was a hair behind Bridge City runner Johnny Dishon, 22.46; and winner Earl Thomas of West Orange-Stark at 22.36.

Lady Bulldogs even district record at 6-6 with wins

      The Jasper Lady Bulldogs defeated Hardin-Jefferson 18-9 Saturday night and lost 3-2 to West Orange-Stark Thursday. That brings their district record to 6-6 with one game left to play. Jesse Cordova was the winning pitcher over Hardin-Jefferson. She pitched five innings, Shelby Griffin, two.

Dates set for free athletic physicals
      Jasper ISD will be offering free athletic physicals to Jasper students who are looking to be involved in athletics next year. Dr. Richard Riggins and Sandy Harman of Christus Family Practice Clinic will be performing the physicals at no cost to the student.

Kirbyville's Tankersley named finalist for year honor
      Louisiana-Lafayette junior and Kirbyville's Holly Tankersley was named a finalist for the 2007 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award the Amateur Softball Association, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, announced last week.
