Jerry Taylor Sr.

Jerry Taylor Sr., 87, of Jasper died April 10 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at the Jesus Christ Holy Tabernacle Church. Burial followed at Jasper City Cemetery in Jasper under the direction of Robinson Community Funeral Home.

Survivors include his son Elton Lincoln Sr. of Jasper; his daughter Linda Taylor Renfro of Jasper; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Maxeen Mitchell

Maxeen Mitchell, 81, of San Augustine died April 10 in Lufkin. Funeral services were held April 13 at Shiloh Baptist Church in San Augustine. Burial was at Shiloh Cemetery.

Survivors include husband Carlis Ray Mitchell of San Augustine; daughter Debbie Franks of Galveston; son Larry Don Mitchell of Galveston; brother Lawrence Weaver; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Marie Holmes

Dorothy Marie Holmes, 74, of Jasper died April 10 at Shady Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newton. Funeral services were held April 14 at the Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Jasper City Cemetery.

Survivors include sisters Anita Holmes Entler of Houston and Trudy Holmes Valentine of Austin.

Jack Lafayette Bates Sr.

Jack Lafayette Bates Sr., 75, of Lumberton died April 11 at Village Creek Rehabilitation Center in Lumberton. Services were held April 15 at his home. Funeral services were under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper.

Survivors include his wife Virginia Gail Bates of Lumberton; sons Jack L. Bates Jr. of Katy, and Joe Walter Bates of Sulphur, LA; daughters Jana Wagstaff of Henderson, Sharon Paddock, and Gwyn New of Albuquerque, NM; brother Denton O. Bates of Haskell; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
