The Jasper Lady Bulldogs defeated Hardin-Jefferson 18-9 Saturday night and lost 3-2 to West Orange-Stark Thursday. That brings their district record to 6-6 with one game left to play.

Jesse Cordova was the winning pitcher over Hardin-Jefferson. She pitched five innings, Shelby Griffin, two.

The score was tied 2-2 after the first inning. Then Jasper fell behind 4-2 in the second. The Lady 'Dogs picked up four runs in the third; Hardin-Jefferson came back with three in the fourth but Jasper produced seven and took over the game.

Haley Walker had three hits and scored four runs. Lizzy White doubled, singled and had three runs. Keyna Mason got two hits and three runs and Stormy Shivers hit two and scored twice. Also hitting were Abby Dickerson, Michelle Wallace and Chanel Lewis.

Freshman Shelby Griffin threw a complete game against West Orange-Stark. West Orange scored their runs early. Jasper came back in the fifth and sixth to tie them before the Lady Mustangs produced their third run in the seventh.

"That was really a good game," Coach Nancy Walker said. "It is one of the best we've played all year. Initially, they were up on us by two runs. We tied the game and continued to play field the ball well. It was a good defensive game- a good game all around even though we didn't win."

Emily Seale hit and Dickerson scored her in the fifth. Walker hit in the sixth, stole all the way around, including home on a pass ball.

Mason and Marissa Mays singled and Dickerson hit a triple but all were stranded on base.

The Lady Bulldogs play their final district game of the season Friday night in Silsbee against the Lady Tigers.
