Dates set for free athletic physicals Jasper ISD will be offering free athletic physicals to Jasper students who are looking to be involved in athletics next year. Dr. Richard Riggins and Sandy Harman of Christus Family Practice Clinic will be performing the physicals at no cost to the student. Athletes that need a physical, as deemed by the UIL, are incoming 7th, 9th, and 11th graders as well as any student athlete that has not had a physical on file with Jasper ISD in the past year. The UIL (University Interscholastic League) states that a student athlete must have a physical every two years. The students may pick up a physical form from their school and take it home to be filled out by their parents. Then the form must be turned in prior to the date of the physical exam. Rowe students will turn their physical form into the front office, Jasper Junior High School students will turn their forms into one of their coaches, and Jasper High School students will turn their forms into Joe Guthrie, the certified athletic trainer, located at the field house. The deadline to turn the forms in with all parent/student information filled out is Friday, April 20. The dates and times of the actual physical exam are as follows: Wednesday April 25 at 1:30 p.m. for Jasper Junior High and High School student athletes; Thursday, May 3 at 1:30 p.m. for Rowe student athletes. Any questions may be directed to Joe Guthrie at 382- 1376 |
