      District Judge Jerome Owens adjudicated eight defendants with plea agreements April 25. Shelly Denein Huffman, 36, possession of a controlled substance; agreed to two years deferred probation, $1,000 fine, $140 restitution, $227 court costs, and 120 hours community service.

      Rufus Byerly Rufus Byerly, 89, of Jasper died April 24 at Nacogdoches Medical Center. Funeral services were held April 27 at Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, with burial following at Homer Cemetery.
