Police arrest two on drug charges

Jasper Police arrested two suspects on weapons and possession of a controlled substance charges Friday, April 27.

Police arrested Kenrick Lacarl Jones, 22, and Cedric Cortez Williams, 22, both of Jasper, after a long investigation into their alleged drug activity. Jones was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and Williams was arrested by unlawfully carrying of a weapon. Additional drug charges are pending once lab reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety lab in Houston.

The investigation culminated Friday in front of Elijah's at 5:14 p.m. when police converged on their vehicle as it pulled into the parking lot.

Police confiscated four grams of cocaine from the two suspects along with an SKS assault rifle and automatic handgun.

Jasper Police Chief Todd Hunter said authorities believed the suspects were at the location to allegedly deliver cocaine to another suspect.

"We were able to locate five grams of cocaine, the weapons and $1,100 in cash in their vehicle," Hunter said.
