Kipp, Armstrong get nods for JISD board

Two new faces will join the Jasper Independent School District board of trustees this week.

Kevin Kipp and Melissa Armstrong were elected to the board Saturday evening.

Kipp was the vote leader with 592 while Armstrong gained 418 votes. School board incumbent Carolyn Armitage garnered 382 votes while Keith Hilderbrand received 257 votes.

Kipp said he is looking forward to serving on the board.

"I just want to make sure we have elite teachers and educators in this district," Kipp said. "I want to pay them what they are worth. If we have the elite educators and we pay them an elite salary, then we can expect that type of effort on their part as well."
