Corps set to begin refilling Steinhagen

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced its plans to begin refilling B.A. Steinhagen Lake by the end of May.

The lake was drained last spring and was proposed to be refilled in the early fall.

When the lake was drained it was done to kill off invasive water plants like hydrilla and hyacinths that entangle the shallow lake making motorized boating difficult.

The Corps said it would begin refilling the 16,380-acre lake to bring it back to its familiar level by mid-June.
