Jasper, Burkeville earn awards at trip to student council conference

Jasper High School received the Community Service and Outstanding Student Council Awards at the 71st annual State Conference of the Texas Association of Student Councils in Arlington April 25.

Burkeville received the Sweepstakes award and a top 10 position for their community service project "65 Roses instead of Cystic Fibrosis."

Jasper High School Student Council sponsor Jamie White accompanied students Katrina Collins, Brittany Goff, Megan Harper, Deedra Harris, Kimonya Lee, Michelle Wallace and Kelsey Wilson.

They took part in discussion groups to learn tips and techniques to make Student Council more effective.

Burkeville High School Student Council sponsor Arvida Smithson accompanied students Cody Caples, Shanna Dodson, Lindsey Jarrell, Quintin Socha, Brittany VanVeckhoven, Chris Wakefield and Savannah Whitney.
