KCISD free meals

The Kirbyville Consolidated Independent School District will offer a summer food service program of free meals to anyone between the ages of one year and 18 years old. The Kirbyville Elementary School, 2100 South Margaret Street, will serve meals Monday-Friday from June 4- 29 . Breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11-noon.

Archeology Society

The Deep East Texas ARcheological Society will meet June 4 at 7 p.m. in the Newton County Hitory Center. Guest speaker will be Richard Donovan, author of "Padlling the Wild Neches."

Keep Jasper Beautiful

Keep Jasper Beautiful luncheon meeting will be June 5, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Women's Civic Club, 156 W. Milam.

St. Michael's cookbooks are on sale during lunchtime at the Belle Jim Hotel. Everything over cost of printing benefits the needy, regarless of church affiliation.

Food bank

Harvest Church at 1501 S. Wheeler now offers a food bank the first Tuesday of each month from 9 - 11 a.m.

Senior Volunteers

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program needs volunteers, age 55 and up, to fill many areas of need in Jasper and Newton counties. Call Ginger Studensky at 384-5704, ext. 271.

Grief support

The Friends of Job helps those who have lost a child, grandchild or sibling. They meet the first and third Tuesday each month from 6:30-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church. For more information call 698-2356.

Cancer control program

Jasper-Newton County Public Health District's breast and cervical cancer control program offers women free breast exams, mammography and pap smear. Women aged 50-64 with limited income, who have no insurance, Medicaid or Medicare are eligible. Call the Jasper office at 384-6829; Newton office at 379-5291; Kirbyville office at 423-6133 or the Buna office at 994- 5921, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
