KJB succeeding

Keep Jasper Beautiful met June 5 at the Woman's Civic Club to discuss their recycling projects.

Commercial recycling of cardboard and office paper will begin soon to help reduce landfill cost for the City of Jasper.

Two county commissioners have solid waste management grants and are trying to place recycle containers at their county compactors. More efforts are also being given to the arboretum beautification project.

Brochures are available at the Chamber or from Patty Shaw and Shari Gunter explaining how to collect for the recycle trailer, which is in Jasper every third weekend in the Community Church parking lot. In May 760 pounds of recyclables were collected.

The week of July 1-7 there will be a series of organized trash pick ups to collect roadside garbage. Contact KJB for trash sticks, trash bags and gloves to help with the pickups.
