Wrtier's Guild

The Sabine Neches Writers Guild will meet tomorrow, June 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the RE/MAX meeting room on the corner of Main and Houston in Jasper. Author Ginger Grevemberg from the Beauregard Parish Writers Guild will be guest speaker.

Library Summer Reading

The Jasper Public Library will continue the summer reading program through June 28 every Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Jasper Fire Hall next to the Jasper Library. It is open to all ages. Tutoring and one-on-one reading can be signed up for after the program.

J.H. Rowe Reunion

The J.H. Rowe Reunion will be held June 14-16 at the Lone Star Building on Broad St., Jasper. Registration will be Thurs. and Fri., from 10 - 6 p.m. The picnic will be at 2 p.m Saturday on the Rowe Campus and Saturday night the awards and dance are at 8 p.m. The alumni will worship at Greater New Bethel Church June 17. Community Singing

Author Richard Donavan

Author Richard Donavan is coming to Martin Dies, Jr. State Park June 16 at 7 p.m., at the newly-rebuilt Nature Center, on the Walnut Side. He will have a slide show presentation highlighting the natural beauty, historical and ecological importance of the Neches River.

10 year reunion

30 year reunion

Family Fun Day

The city of Colmesneil and Colmesneil ISD will have a family fun day June 30 at Lake Tejas, FM 256 East, 1 mile off of HWY 69 in Colmesneil, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Entertainment will include "Crime Stoppers band," "Yeller Dog" and a fireworks display. There will games, food and a $2 swimming admission. For more information call City Hall at 837-5211.

Patriotic Sing Along

The fourth annual Patriotic Sing Along, June 30 from 4 - 5:30 p.m., will be at Coleman Hall at the First Presbyterian Church on 740 W. Verna in Jasper. Refreshments will be served. For more information call 384-8415.

Cookbooks

St. Michael's cookbooks are on sale during lunchtime at the Belle Jim Hotel. Everything over cost of printing benefits the needy, regarless of church affiliation.

Senior Volunteers

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program needs volunteers, age 55 and up, to fill many areas of need in Jasper and Newton counties. Call Ginger Studensky at 384-5704, ext. 271.

Grief support

The Friends of Job helps those who have lost a child, grandchild or sibling. They meet the first and third Tuesday each month from 6:30-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church. For more information call 698-2356.

Cancer control program

Jasper-Newton County Public Health District's breast and cervical cancer control program offers women free breast exams, mammography and pap smear. Women aged 50-64 with limited income, who have no insurance, Medicaid or Medicare are eligible. Call the Jasper office at 384-6829; Newton office at 379-5291; Kirbyville office at 423-6133 or the Buna office at 994-5921, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

HELP needed

The Health Equipment Loaner Program (HELP) provides uninsured and underinsured individuals with medical equipment at no cost. Call ETHAN 384- 2099 or come by 117 W. Houston St. in Jasper.

Bereavement luncheon

Caring Friends bereavement luncheon for anyone who has lost a loved one is held the third Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. at the Belle-Jim Hotel. Luncheon is hosted by Lakes Area Hospice (384-5995) and Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home (384-5781).
