Long-time trustee back behind bars

Todd Dixon, 43, is back in the Jasper County Jail after a brief 10 days of freedom, according to Lt. Paul Tomplait of the Sheriff's office.

Dixon was a long-time trustee at the jail who served more than a year as a cook in the jail's kitchen.

Late Sunday night, June 17, Dixon was arrested near FM 1007 for resisting arrest by sheriff's deputies Shannon Meaux and John Cooper.

"He was intoxicated," Tomplait said, "and found with nine pills, Darvocet, a prescription pain killer."

Tomplait said Dixon "bowed up" against two of the department's biggest officers, and tried to convince the officers he was doing an undercover 'sting' for the department.

Sheriff Ronnie McBride just shook his head when he heard that Dixon was back.
