McClurg steps down from post

Saying the decision had "nothing to do with Tiger Truck," Jasper Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Tom McClurg tendered his resignation Tuesday effective July 31.

"I have enjoyed more than seven years of employment with JEDCO. During that time, I have seen successes and failures," McClurg said in a statement. "Even with success, the stresses of this position are at times daunting and have taken a toll on me both mentally and physically. I have decided that I need to take the time off to recuperate and get a fresh outlook on life and the future."

McClurg had originally planned to retire in March of 2008.

"I will be working on JEDCO's behalf to the last minute (July 31), and will continue to support JEDCO and Jasper thereafter in any way that I might be of service."
