Scholastic honors

Lamar University

Several local students were among a total of 655 Lamar University students who earned places on the deans' list for the 2007 spring semester.

To qualify for the deans' list, a student must carry a full course load of 12 semester hours or more. Freshmen and sophomores must earn a grade-point average of 3.40 or higher, and juniors and seniors must attain a GPA of 3.60 or higher.

Brookeland: Charity Elizabeth Foxworth, interdisciplinary studies.

Buna: Chad Alan Nequent, accounting; Adam Karel Haynes, Cherytie Danyelle Wigginton, communication; Janay Anne Link, family and consumer sciences; Daniel Keith Whitton, history; Christel Brockman, interdisciplinary studies; Kendal Christine Hillin, management information systems; Candace Darlene Wood, music; Shannon Christopher Martin, prepharmacy; Jonah Mitchell Cherry, provisionalmechanical engineering.

Evadale: Chelsea Lynn Richardson, general studies.

Jasper: Katherine Neel, interdisciplinary studies; Andrew Armitage, provisional civil engineering.

Kirbyville: Misty Gibson, Sandra Renee Self, interdisciplinary studies.

Sam Rayburn: April Nicole Smith, political science.

Howard Payne

University

Jasper native, Lynn Larue, received honors at Howard Payne University.

Larue is a junior at HPU and was named to the President's List for the spring semester of 2007. To qualify, students must earn a GPA ranging from 3.65 - 3.99.
