SE Tx Auto Task Force helps Jasper deputies recover stolen goods
Dallas felony warrant leads to local chase

Following a tip from the Southeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force last week, Jasper County sheriff's deputies apprehended Jason Olds, 37, in Jasper and recovered goods stolen in a number of burglaries in Jasper and Tyler counties.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Department determined there was an outstanding warrant against Olds for bond forfeiture in a Dallas felony case.

With that, a task force consisting of Lt. Paul Tomplait, Investigator Curtis Frame, Texas Ranger Danny Young and DPS auto theft investigators converged on Olds' house in Jasper.

"He took off running," Chambers said, "but we caught him and took him in custody."

When a search dog sniffing outside the home alerted officers, Chambers said they obtained a search warrant from Jasper County Judge Mark Allen.

Officers recovered a stolen shotgun from a Tyler County burglary. In a relative's house nearby they located a 42" TV from a Jasper burglary and two rifles from a Tyler County burglary.

As of June 22, Olds was being held no bond in the Jasper County jail on the original arrest warrant from Dallas, but had not been arraigned yet on charges in Jasper.
