Radio Shack burglars still on the loose

Acar fire almost, but not quite, led to the arrest of the burglars who kicked in the front door of the Radio Shack in Buna and stole equipment. Sheriff's deputies are asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of three men from the Houston area to call 384-5417.

Firefighters were dispatched June 20 to a car fire later determined to be arson. An anonymous source told deputies that he had seen a truck with two black males just prior to the fire.

Meanwhile, Jasper County Sheriff's deputy Morgan Downs stopped men in a truck with electronics in the back. The men were able to convince Downs that they were helping their sister move, and he had no reason to detain them at that time.

Shortly after that, it was determined that the Radio Shack on Highway 62 had been broken into and electronics stolen.

When deputies quizzed the sister, she said she was not moving. Deputies asked her to call her brother on his cell phone and find out his location, but instead she tipped him that the law was looking for him.

Captain Stacey Chambers said charges are pending against the sister and the men are still at large are Kenneth Clever, 18, Marcus Mayo, 17, and James Holmes, 18, all of the Houston area. They were last seen in a tan Chevy single cab pickup.
