Gertrude Beckett

Gertrude Beckett, 81, of Brookeland died June 19 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held June 22 at St. Raymond's Catholic Church at Sam Rayburn. Burial followed at Brookeland Cemetery under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.

Survivors include son Charlie Beckett of Brookeland; brothers Felix and Adolfx Kauer; sisters Luise Weber and Paula Kyiser, all of Germany and two grandchildren.

Richard Gunter

Richard Gunter, 45, of Jasper died June 21 at his home. Memorial services were held June 26 at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper. Private burial took place June 22 at Gunter Cemetery in Newton County.

Survivors include his sister Sherry Hopson of Kirbyville and his brother John Gunter of Burkeville.

Ethie Hicks Harper

Ethie Hicks Harper, 93, of Houston died June 20. Funeral services were held June 23 at West University Baptist Church. Burial followed June 25 at the City Cemetery of Jasper.

Survivors include her son Roy Harper Jr. of Houston; sister Nelda Byerly of Waco; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Mildred Jones

Mildred Jones, 52, of Cleveland died June 22 at her home. Funeral services were held June 24 at North Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper.

Survivors include her husband Thomas Glenn Jones of Cleveland; son Robbie Jones of Shreveport, LA; daughter Ronny Kay Reilley of Cleveland; brothers Paul Loftin of Warren, Johny Loftin, Herman Loftin and Daniel Loftin, all of Vidor; sister Dorothy Price of Warren and seven grandchildren.

Alice M. Karr

Alice M. Karr, 87, of Fort Worth died June 23. Visitation will be held June 29 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home, 2577 North Wheeler, in Jasper. Funeral services will be held June 30 at 10 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Jasper with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.

Survivors include sons Ben Karr of Fort Worth, Allan Karr of Aruba and two grandchildren.
