Women's equestrian team will appear in SportsQuest

The Rough Riders represented the Jasper Lions Club at the United States Equestrian Drill Association National Competition held in Canton, Texas, on June 8.

The team rode in both novice and open divisions and proudly brought home a third place trophy and two fifth place standings.

The team consists of Connie Cook, Sandy Singletary, and Kaylene Killingsworth-Holmes, all of Fred; Jacque Lambright (captain) and Marxie Porter of Buna; and Karen Miller of Orange.

These women practice weekly, preparing and training their horses, improving their horsemanship skills, and perfecting maneuvers performed at breakneck speeds.

All their hard work was put to the test in Canton at the group's first national competition where they competed against teams from California, Illinois, Missouri, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, as well as all over the state of Texas.

Covering the competition was SportsQuest International, a Californiabased multimedia production company specializing in coverage of national and international equestrian events.

Their reporter was so impressed with the Rough Riders he conducted an interview with them. This exclusive interview can be seen soon on their website, www.SportsQuestInternati onal.com.

The Rough Riders will continue to compete throughout the summer and fall, traveling to Liberty June 30 and Marshall Sept. 1, and will be inviting teams to join them on Sept. 30 as they host a competition at the Jasper Lions Club Arena.
