Murder-suicide victims ID'ed

The shooter in a murdersuicide in Woodville has died and Woodville police have released the name, Gustavo Aldaba Longoria, 24, shot Dulce Mayeli Zaragoza-Hernandez, 27, and then shot himself in the head.

The shooting took place in a home where Henandez and her three-month-old son were staying with a female friend who also has children.

On Thursday, June 28, the women had just returned from grocery shopping and were unloading the car when Longoria drove up. Hernandez remained outside to talk to Longoria, with her son still strapped in a baby seat nearby.

About 7 p.m. gunshots were heard. Hernandez died at the scene. Longoria was life-flighted to an area hospital, where he remained in critical condition for almost a day before he died.

Woodville Police Chief Scott Yosko said it is the first murder he has had to deal with in his two years with the police department in Woodville.

Yosko said the man, who was the father of the baby, has a Woodville address but that both parties were in the country illegally.

Child Protective Services in Woodville has protective custody of the infant.
