Avoid new surprises when calling it quits

Many people assume that they will retire someday, but when that day comes, they are often taken by surprise. Planning for retirement can make this time more enjoyable.

The first issue people think about is money. This is always something to consider.

The second issue is health insurance, especially with the changes in Medicare. Check your current health plan and consider supplementary health insurance as well. Find an insurance agent you trust, and review several policies before making a selection.

Even where you are going to live plays a big role in retirement. Some people are happy moving to new environments while others prefer where they are.

Yet, when thinking about moving try a plan that addresses what will happen if you are not satisfied with the move.

Personal health is another consideration. One way to enjoy retirement is to retire when you feel healthy and fit, but unfortunately, not everyone has a chance to do this. Retirement can give the chance to work on improving health with changes in diet and/or exercise.

Be prepared for the possibility of a dramatic shift in your life once you retire.

It is not uncommon to have some problems handling retirement at first. You may have to adjust to you and your spouse spending more time together

If you look at retirement as an opportunity, then more than likely, you will adjust quickly and enjoy it.
