Lamar hosts All-State Choir camp

Something to sing about: Lamar to host All-State Choir Camp July 16-20; enrollment reflects dramatic increase

Eduardo Garcia-Novelli greeted 16 young voice students when he conducted his first Lamar University choir camp in the summer of 2002.

He expects as many as 200 when the 2007 All-State Choir Camp begins June 16.

Choir Camp '07 will begin Monday, July 16, and continue through July 20. Sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily, with classes in Rothwell Recital Hall and Rooms 103, 105 and 109 of the Music Building, in the Science Auditorium and in the Setzer Student Center Ballroom.

This one-week intensive program for high school students will focus on learning the repertoire for the All- Region and All-State Choir auditions. During the day, the schedule includes sectional and full rehearsals, sight-reading classes, diction classes, voice classes and lectures.
