Jasper Lions Club Star Quest audition calls opens today

The Jasper Lions Club Star Quest Country Music Competition has been created to expand the legacy of country music entertainment at the annual rodeo event by featuring some of the regions best home grown musical talent.

Star Quest, like the popular America's Got Talent and American Idol is designed to be a winner take all qualifying/ elimination competition.

An open call to artists for auditions will be held from today through Sept. 8. Finalists will be selected from the audition cds/cassettes from contestant entries and will then be announced on Sept. 21.

The finalists will then perform live at the Jasper Lions Rodeo Arena through a threeperformance elimination competition series scheduled to begin Oct. 13.

Following performances are scheduled for Oct. 27 and Nov. 10, with the Star Quest winner being selected that the Nov. 10 performance.

All performances are open to the public and the audience will be able to participate in the voting. Adults will be $5 and children 12 and under $2.

The Star Quest winner will be given the opening act performer contract for the 62nd Annual Jasper Lions Rodeo held in May of 2008.

The winner will also receive the following:

• Opening act performance and billing ($2,000)

• VIP pass for all four nights of the rodeo

• Signed guitar by the 2008 Rodeo Star performers

• Photo op with 2008 Rodeo Stars

• Aprofessional photo session

• Aprofessional marketing portfolio

• Special guest - 2008 Lions Club Rodeo Parade

• Dinner at Catfish Cabin - night of rodeo performance

• Gift certificate from Baskins in Jasper

• 20 rodeo tickets for family and friends
