Green Streets planting project will open for registration soon

Operation Green Streets will open for registration in Jasper soon, according to Shari Gunter at Keep Jasper Beautiful.

Texas A&M is calling Green Streets "a Rita-recovery" tree planting project.

Residents of the city of Jasper can register at 1-877- 512-TREE (8733) any time between now and Oct. 5 for a free tree. The trees will be delivered at proper planting time, early November.

Gunter says it will be a substantial tree in a nursery pot, not a bare-root sapling.

The monthly luncheon meeting of Keep Jasper Beautiful is Tuesday, Aug. 7, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Woman's Civic Club across from Wesley Center.
