The members of the Angelina River Volunteer Fire Department celebrated the retirement of two members, Albert Hensarling and John Lee Roeder.

Hensarling had been with the department for 23 years and through those years was a chief, training chief and assistant chief. Hensarling was presented a plaque that made him a lifetime honorary member.

Roeder had been with the department since the beginning and was presented a firefighter's blanket, a firefighter statue and made a lifetime honorary member.

Other presentations were given to Mike Roberts, who had donated time and support for a benefit barbeque for the department, and firefighter Robert Wood for the work he had done for the department in maintaining the trucks and equipment.

Assistant Chief Jimmy Primrose, who was the presenter, stated that the department was truly thankful to Roberts for what he had done.

"We are greatly appreciative for the support that all these men and all of our firefighters who volunteer so that our community will have fire coverage," continued Primrose.
