Accused sex offender arrested in Jasper, sent back to Shelby

Gary J. Miller, the wanted fugitive from Shelby County, was taken into custody by Jasper County Sheriff's deputies just after midnight July 27, according to Lieutenant Todd Y'Barbo of the Criminal Investigations Division.

An anonymous tip led deputies to a residence on County Road 828 south of Evadale.

"After being taken into custody Miller complained that he was having difficulty breathing," Y'Barbo said. "It was later determined that Miller had ingested an unknown amount of cocaine."

Miller was hospitalized Friday.

Jasper County Sheriff Ronnie McBride said that a Shelby County deputy came to the hospital and waited until Miller was released, booked him at Jasper County jail, and took Miller back to Shelby County.

Miller is accused of allegedly raping a nineyear old girl in Shelby County.
