Wal-Mart wins auction

Wal-Mart won the bidding war for the Jasper Baseball Champions autographed photo, according to Liz Street, special events coordinator for the Jasper Lake Sam Rayburn Area Chamber of Commerce.

"We had quite a little bidding war going on, which was fun for the grand finale," Street said.

All of the $1,000 bid will go toward building a permanent memorial to the 2007 state championship team.

Coach Shawn Mixon, the Booster club and local officials will present the picture to Wal-Mart in a ceremony at the store today, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m.
