Vela Marie Atwood

Vela Atwood, 80, passed away July 29, 2007 in Bryan Texas.

Born June 3, 1927 in Kingston, Texas, she was the daughter of the late William and Oma Norman.

Funeral service were held August 2, 2007 at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Mr. Randy Harshbarger of Stallings Dr. Church of Christ officiated. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Park.

Mrs. Atwood was formerly a member of Mound and Starr Church of Christ, which is now Stallings Drive Church of Christ. She had spent the last eight years in a Bryan, Texas nursing home.

Surviving Mrs. Atwood are her daughters, Brenda McCasland and husband Michael of College Station, Lisa O'Neal and husband Kenneth of Houston and Renee Garcia and husband Greg of Jasper; sister, Roletta Walden and husband Leon of Commerce, TX; grandchildren, Stephanie and Courtney McCasland of College Station, Kendra and Chase O'Neal of Houston and Crystal, Ashley and Brooke Garcia of Jasper.

Along with her parents, Vela is preceded in death by her husband, Aldred E. Atwood on December 5, 1998.

Pallbearers will be Bill Jobe, Eddie Whitaker, Tommy Goad, Clell Sparks, J. B. Goolsby and Jonathan Fisk.
