E.L. Ener Jr
E.L. Ener Jr., 66, of Clear Lake, Texas passed away in the loving arms of his wife on August 3, 2007.
After graduating from Jasper High School, he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. On a track scholarship, E.L. set school records in the mile, twomile and 3000 meter steeplechase. In addition, he set the SWC cross country record in 1962, captured the 1962 SWC twomile championship, and was the 1962 cross country team captain. In 1991, Texas A&M Letterman's Association inducted E.L. into the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame.
He also holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
From 1964 to 1984, he was an F-4 fighter pilot, completing 212 combat sorties in Vietnam being awarded the Silver Star, three Distinguished Flying Crosses, 13 Air Medals, three Air Force Commendation Medals and an Army Commendation Medal.
Employed by Barrios Technology, he has been the Requirements Lead Engineer for the International Space Station United States Orbit Segment.
E.L. is survived by his wife Mary Beth Beard Ener and four children; Emily Gonzales and husband Juan, Carter Ener and wife Kendell, Todd Ener and wife Sara, Jenny Coon and husband Ryan; also, four grandchildren, Ashley Teague, Russell Teague, Jimmy Ener and Paige Coon. Also, he is survived by Mother-in-Law Angie Beard and Sister-in-Law, Martha Westmoreland; three sisters; Daphne Flurry, Doris Wright and Gwen Gore; and two brothers, Donald Ray Ener and Martin Ener.
Services were held August 5, 2007 at the Stringer Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas.
