Bill Hudspeth and Ricky Potts captured their fourth win on Sam Rayburn Aug. 4 when they won the Media Bass tournament at Jackson Hill Park and Marina.

After everyone got the boats in the water they waited for the tournament to start. Clear skies and no wind made for a smooth ride to the first fishing spots of the day.

The sun and high humidly were bad enough but the lack of a breeze made it even tougher on the anglers. They were determined and stayed out there to give it their best shot.

At weight in it was easy to see just how tough the day had been. Several anglers said they caught some good fish in practice but just couldn't get them to bite today.

Hudspeth and Potts got their fourth win on "Big Sam" with five fish weighing in at 15.68 lbs. and took home $2,675. Theses two anglers are not only great fishing partners but have the skills it takes to adapt to the changes of weather and water to come out on top.

Their winning catch came off Deep Structure using V&M baits.

Jim Gaard and Stephen Rhoades came in second place with five fish weighing in at 15.41 lbs. and took home $1,375. These two anglers had two fish by 11 a.m. With time running out they had to makeup some lost weight. Their fish came from flipping the grass.

Larry Weppler and Dennis Fikes came in third place with five fish weighing in at 15.28 lbs. and took home $812.

Johnny and Ann Meyers captured "Big Bass" with 5.65 lbs.

Mike Lott, Gordon Stauffer and the volunteers that help make this possible spend a lot of time and effort to set up and take down all the equipment needed for these tournaments.

These same people also weigh in all the fish and do all the paperwork that allows these events to take place.
