Motor Sports Action packed shows are the norm at Motorama Speedway, even more so after two weeks off due to rain. Last Friday, Aug. 3, the racers were in rare form and the competition was extreme. Keith Lee Jr. took the first preliminary win with point leader Kevin Kelly riding shot gun. The second heat went to Jeremy Pierson. Britt Seaman was the runner-up in that round but in the feature he lead every lap. Daniel Seals followed him to the line for second with Lee beating Kelly in for third. Two multi car wrecks took place before a single feature lap could be scored. In the second collision, Eddie Thibodeaux, flipped end over end down the back straightaway. Chad Comer took charge of the first limited modified heat, with Billy Gould Jr. in close pursuit. The second round had two old rivals, John O. Whittington and Howard Willis, doing battle. John O. won the heat honors but it was Howard taking the bows in the feature. At the half way mark of the 20 lapper feature, Pete Sagmiller took the lead from Whittington. A couple of laps later Willis moved into second and was dogging Sagmiller. On lap 15, Willis stopped on the track with a flat. It was changed and he was sent to the rear on the restart. From that point on things really went bizarre. John O. was once again challenging Pete when contact was made sending the leader spinning out of control. A black flag was brought out and Whittington left the scene. Sagmiller went back to the front with Tracy Denby, Brian Boram, and Benny Perry dicing for the number two spot. On the last lap he made it past Boram for third. Sagmiller, who ran a good race and was the apparent winner, came up 18 pounds to light after the race at tech. Ronnie Williams had the pole position for the start of the outlaw stock feature and held the front line until the last lap. That's when Randy Seals took advantage of lap traffic and went wheeling by for the win. Early night heat winners, Keith Wuenschel and Ernest Haynes finished third and fourth respectively. Jody Champion completed the top five list. Shelby Richardson took a double win in the Jr. Mini Stock class. Mason Baker beat Joshua Wetzel to the line for second in the heat and feature. Late Model Stocks, who were making a guest appearance at the track, had three drivers in the spotlight. Marlon McGown and Paul Baker were in charge of the heats, but the feature trophy was collected by Kevin Sitton. McGown was stripped of the runner-up money when he failed to go to tech.
