Stephen F. Austin State University

Amber Nicole Fomby of Newton received a bachelor of arts degree in history Aug. 11.

University Interscholastic League

Clayton Douglas Mitchell and Rachel Christine Vickers, both graduates of Jasper High School, each received a scholarship from the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation.

They each earned a $1,000 one-year scholarship from the Nelda C. and H. J. Lutcher Stark Foundation for outstanding records of academic achievement and extracurricular activities.

Mitchell competed in the One Act Play and UIL football and baseball throughout his school career.

He plans to attend Sam Houston State University and major in mass communication.

Mitchell is the son of Dawn Mitchell.

Vickers competed in the One Act Play and participated in UIL prose and poetry interpretation, track and field, soccer, volleyball and basketball throughout her high school career.

She plans to attend Sam Houston State University and major in photography.

Vickers is the daughter of Ron Vickers and Sherri Elmer.
