Parenting still a priority in JISD

As a new school year begins, plans are underway for another excellent parenting program in the Jasper Independent School District.

This will be the third year the Campus Parent Liaisons will be working together with administration to implement positive, productive communication and activities for parents of Jasper students.

Last year, the "Strong Fathers, Strong Families" night was highly evaluated by the over 600 participants. The "Parent Mini- Conference" in January was equally well attended and enjoyed by parents and teachers.

Open house sessions, workshops, orientation meetings, programs, and other activities are again being scheduled for 07-08. Using suggestions from parents and faculty members, a variety of training sessions and opportunities are being added for each campus.

Parents can contact the school principal or the Parent Liaison of their child's campus for information on specific events.

The Parent Liaisons for 07-08 are Maggie Robinson, Few Primary; Elaine Harrison, Parnell Elementary; Mamie Aplon and Barbara Hoyle, Rowe Intermediate; Karen Byerly and Becky Wilson, Jasper Junior High; and Stacy Gillis, Jasper High School. District Parenting Coordinators are Judy Marken and Rachel Pickle.
