Walking the Halls
By KEVIN MCCUGH Jasper High School Principal

I am very pleased to join the Jasper Independent School District as high school principal for the 2007 - 2008 school year.

It is a tremendous honor for me to serve the community in this capacity. I would like to thank all of the administrators, faculty, and staff members who have assisted me in my transition to the district.

I would like to extend a welcome to everyone associated with Jasper High School, including staff members, parents and students, to come by the high school and say hello.

I am looking forward to meeting many of you in the coming weeks before the start of school.

I will be working closely with Tas McGraw in media relations organizing and submitting articles from Jasper ISD to The Jasper Newsboy.

These articles will provide updates on events occurring at the high school, and recognition of outstanding performances by our students throughout the year.

New Student Registration:

Registration times will be from 8 - 11:30 a.m. and 1 - 3:30 p.m. each day on Aug. 14, 15 and 16.

Parents and students will be receiving a registration packet in the mail. If you fail to receive a packet by Friday, Aug. 10, please come by and pick one up on Monday, Aug. 13, or Tuesday, Aug. 14.

Students may pick up their schedules and I.D. cards on the following days:

Aug. 22: Seniors (9 - 11:30 a.m.), Juniors (1 - 3:30 p.m.)

Aug. 23: Sophomores (9 - 11:30 a.m.), Freshmen (1 - 3:30 p.m.)

Students will need to return these forms in order to pick up their schedule, which will be part of the registration packet.

The high school faculty and staff members will work tirelessly to ensure that we maximize educational opportunities for all students.

It is our responsibility to prepare every student to achieve success during high school and beyond their high school careers.

The staff at Jasper High School encourages all parents, guardians, and community members to participate in activities to promote student success.

As a special note, congratulations to the baseball team and coaching staff in winning the 2007 3A State Championship in Round Rock earlier this summer, and to all of the students who achieved special recognition in school related activities this past year.

I look forward to a great year as principal of Jasper High School.
