Herrin still in custody after attempting to flee deputies
Multiple charges pending

James Mark Herrin, 43, of Magnolia Springs remains in custody at the Jasper County Jail, held on no bond, according to Capt. Stacey Chambers.

When Chambers and Deputy Shannon Meaux attempted to serve warrants for retaliation against a witness, Herrin took off on an ATV through the woods.

Two and a half hours later, the deputies, assisted by game wardens Phillip Woods and Bill Zapp, caught him on a logging road and took him into custody.

He was arrested for allegedly evading arrest or detention, resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence and retaliation against a witness and other charges relating to an incident in Tyler County.
