Maceo sisters
The Harvest of Hope Gala benefiting Catholic Charities will be Sept. 29 to honor Concetta Tortorice, Luce Parigi, Dimples Messina and Theresa Giglio, the Maceo sisters. The Gala begins at 7 p.m. at the MCM Elegante Hotel in Beaumont.

Often referred to as the Four Cardinals, the Maceo sisters begin each morning attending early Mass at St. Anne's Church. For the past 11 years, the sisters have each spent one hour a week in St. Anne's Adoration Chapel.

In 2005, Concetta Tortorice, Luce Parigi, Dimples Messina and Theresa Giglio were nominated for the Msgr. Righard DeStefano Faithful Steward award in recognition of their years of service to the Catholic Church and the community.

Nominees are honored for giving their time, talent and treasure to the parish community and for serving as models in their parish and civic communities.

"The Maceo sisters share a strong faith and they have been wonderful role models for their children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. They are kind, thoughtful, generous and prayerful women who have spent their lives serving God, church, family and their fellowmen," said Dean Terrebone, president of Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas.

"It is most appropriate that they be recognized at

the Harvest of Hope Gala for their dedication and service to the Catholic community o f Southeast Texas," cont inued Terrebonne.

They are the mothers of 19 children, 46 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren.
