Enrollment opens for adult education
Representatives of the Region 5 Adult Education Center set up a table to let parents know they offer ESL (English as a second language), U.S. citizenship classes, and adult basic education to prepare for a GED test (general equivalence degree). Terrya Norsworthy, adult education center director, and Silvia Muir, instructor, were on hand to explain in English or Spanish that, "It's never too late to learn," (nunca es tarde para aprender). The classes are free of charge. The center serves Jasper, Newton and Tyler Counties. Fall registration for GED, Adult Basic Education and Workplace Readiness Skills continues through Friday, Aug. 31. Classes begin Sept. 4 at 8:30 a.m. For more information, call 384-2004 or come by the Region 5 registration at 302 S. Wheeler. Hablamos espanol. |
