City proud to have Hunter here Ladies and gentlemen, after attending Monday's City Council Meeting, I am here to tell you that the City of Jasper has an assertive, bonafide Chief of Police in Todd Hunter. Chief Hunter is 100 percent supportive for the City of Jasper and more importantly he is totally dedicated to his department and has a vision for improving the department. Changes will not happen over night and may be difficult for some, but the end result will justify the sacrifices made in achieving the goal. As changes occur, there may be a few that are unable to conform and elect to seek employment elsewhere. This is normal attrition in any business and should not be the cause for alarm. Last Friday, our local Laugh In radio station commented that the Honeymoon was over with the upcoming council meeting with Chief Hunter. I totally agree with this comment; the only problem with the statement is that it is over two years late in being broadcasted. In so far as Monday's council meeting being scheduled with Chief Hunter, it was a waste of taxpayers' money by council member Randy Sayers. All you had to do was listen to Mr. Sayers to realize he was being a mouthpiece for someone else's personal agenda. I pray Mr. Sayers matures over time and starts standing fast on his own ethics and principles for the City of Jasper. In the interlude, we can be proud and supportive to have Todd Hunter as our Chief of Police. |
