Grant wins all tourney award

The varsity volleyball team took third place at the Hemphill tournament Aug. 17-18. Senior Amber Grant received the All- Tournament award in the varsity category; Courtney Baker was selected in the junior varsity division.

Jasper lost to Diboll in four games Aug. 21, losing the first two 21-25 and 20- 25 respectively. The Lady Bulldogs took game three 25-23 and then fell 19-25 in the final.

Janice Shelby was the top server with 14 good serves and also the Lady 'Dogs top hitter with 18 spikes. Shalethia Middleton was top digger with 22.

The freshman team lost the first game 21-25, won the second 25-18, and finished with an 11-15 loss.

Jasper teams also competed in the Evadale tournament but did not advance.

District opened Tuesday, Sept. 4 at Kirbyville.

Jasper will compete in the Woodville varsity tournament Sept. 6 and 8, play Spurger at home the Sept. 7, and then begin the remainder of the district schedule Tuesday, Sept. 11 at home against Orangefield.

The next home game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, at 10 a.m. against Hardin-Jefferson.
