Art Center opens new student show The East Texas Regional Art Center continues to expand its showings and classes. Sept. 1 a new show opened displaying works created by homeschool students, and tomorrow, Sept. 13, local artist Bill Wise begins another series of watercolor classes. Tommy and Jean Humphrey teach the TJarts Homeschool Art Program. Local artists Pat Tatum judged the works and winners in order are: Painting and drawing, ages 5- 8: Jochebad Michler, Blair Dougharty, Keturah Michler; ages 9-12: Abigail Michler, Sophia Perdichizzi, Benjamin McBride, April Beddingfield, Raegan Dougharty; design, ages 12-17: Joyce Clark, Hannah Brown, Derek Van Zandt, Erik Lewis. Printmaking: Catherine Wilkerson, Andrew Beddingfield, Joy Clark, Malachi Michler. Advanced painting, ages 9-14: Obadiah Michler, Sarah Glaesmann, Josh Lewis. Drawing, Claire Trawhon. Ceramics, ages 5-8: Lydia Sparrow, Blair Dougharty, Keturah Michler, Jochebed Michler; ages 9-12, Micaela Sparrow, Moriah Michler, Obadiah Michler, Sophia Perdichizzi, Carissa Cook, Johnathan McBride, Moriah Michler; Ceramics, Malachi Michler, Kristen La Rue, Derek Van Zandt, Joanna Clark, Joy Clark. Beginning Watercolor Bill Wise begins the fall series of watercolor classes tomorrow, Sept. 13, from 6-8 p.m. at the Art Center. "It's really for any level, but we concentrate on the beginners and you don't have to have any experience to learn to enjoy this hobby," Wise said. For more information, call Wise at 381- 8642. The East Texas Regional Art Center is at 364 N. Austin St. in Jasper and is open and free to the public 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. |
