NEWTON'S NEXT FOUR CONTESTS
Sept. 14 Jasper

The Eagles host their home opener and pick their traditional rival Jasper Bulldogs for an opponent. Last year, the Eagles rallied late to defeat the Bulldogs in The Bone Yard and Jasper will be looking for a measure of revenge this year in Newton's home opener. Newton coach Curtis Barbay called Jasper "the best team we faced last year" so this contest should be a good one.

Sept. 21 Silsbee

It doesn't get any easier for the Eagles in their third week matchup with the Silsbee Tigers. The Tigers are fresh off another playoff appearance and return nine starters from that team. Silsbee handed the Eagles their first loss of the season last year 27- 23 but this contest will be at Singletary Stadium and the Eagles will be looking for measure of revenge against this 3A team.

Sept. 28 Carthage

The Bulldogs will come to visit Newton this week and will be looking for a bit of revenge against Southeast Texas teams. the Bulldogs suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Kirbyville Wildcats and will be looking for better results this week. Running back Gary Tatum leds the Bulldogs in rushing last year as he rushed for 887 yards and seven touchdowns.

Oct. 5 Open

Newton will have their second off week of the 2007 season as they are off to prepare for the start of District 23-2A season. The Eagles wore the district crown last year and should be poised for another district championship.
