Jasper Head Football Coach Thomas Brooks said this week's off week is vital to the success of this year's season.

Why?

"We have to get the spirits back up on this team," Brooks said. "We have to instill in them that we still have a chance to be a good team and I think that's very important. We have to stick together and that's the key thing.

"They have to be able to trust us and not doubt what we are telling them," Brooks said. "If there is doubt, then it won't work and we can't have."

Brooks said he knows the Bulldogs can achieve something this year if they stick together as a team.

"We know we can be good - we beat a good Barbers Hill team so we just have to get back on track and get ready for the first district ballgame," Brooks said.

Jasper will open the District 21- 3A football season Friday, Sept. 28 when the Dawgs host pre-season favorite Kirbyville before traveling to Orangefield to play the Bobcats in the second week.
