This week aside, Fentress pleased
By JIMMY GALVAN Managing Editor

Woodville Head Football Coach Steve Fentress said his Eagles were well on their way until the first half of the Warren game.

"It was a good win for us but it was a better learning experience for us," Fentress said. "I was pleased with where the team is at because we hadn't turned the ball over at all."

Fentress said his Eagles are starting to build confidence and that's vitally important as district looms ahead.

"We are getting some confidence in what we do," Fentress said. "We are actually starting to get better week to week. We are just reinforcing the things we have already learned."

He admitted his defensive squad has improved constantly since the first week of the season.

"Week one we didn't play a good football game," Fentress said. "We bent too much but we never broke. The last two weeks, we have matured as a defense and are playing a lot better."

The Eagles will look to better their mark this week when they return home to take on the 0-3 Shepherd Pirates. Shepherd has dropped decisions to East Chambers, Diboll and Crockett.

"They have taken it on the chin three times but those are three good football teams," Fentress said.

Fentress said he doesn't believe over confidence will be an issue this week against Shepherd.

"I think they got over confident against Warren and they saw what could happen," Fentress said. "I gave them the "How To and How Not To' speech last week in a high voice and I think they have learned that they can't overlook anybody."
