Woodville's offense may have sputtered at times against Warren but the defensive Eagles came to play.

An inspired Woodville defensive team shut down the Warren Warriors 20-0 Friday, Sept. 14 in Warren.

"We made some offensive mistakes but we played some real good defense to get us the win," said Woodville Head Football Coach Steve Fentress. "We picked it up real good and shut them down the entire night.

"Anytime you play Warren and you get a win a win - it's a good win for you," Fentress said. "It didn't matter how good or bad you are, the kids are up for this game."

Woodville held off Warren a couple of times in the Red Zone include a couple of goal line stands.

"We are getting more people to the tackles and not just standing around," Fentress said.

Woodville scored the first time they touched the ball but then didn't score again until the fourth quarter.

Fentress said despite it being a rivalry contest, the Eagles didn't have a good week of practice in preparation for their battle with Warren.

"I think they though they were supposed to win and when we took the ball and went down and scored, they thought it would be easy but Warren responded and played good defense," Fentress said. "We reminded them at halftime of our bad week of practice and they picked it up in the second half.

Woodville's Adam Rigsby carried the ball 24 times for 146 yards while quarterback Stephen Williams rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown. Paul Price rushed for 79 yards and a score as the Eagles rolled up 409 total offensive yards.
