Book Fair

Jasper High School library will host a book fair today through Sept. 28, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and until 6 p.m. Sept. 27. For more information call JHS librarian Wanda Simpson at 382-1391.

Kids Health Fest will be Sept. 29 at Few Primary from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Jasper Retired Teachers

The Jasper Retired Teachers Association will meet Oct. 1 at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ Christian Service Center. Entertainment will be provided by Jessica Alvis, Miss Jasper, and a JISD overview will be given by Butch Dean, JISD Superintendent.

Archeological Society

The Deep East Texas Archeological Society will meet Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Newton County History Center. The speaker will be Dr. Tom Middlebrook, president of the Texas Archeological Society. For more information contact Phyllis Summers at 565-2022.

Jasper Public Library

The Jasper Friends of the Public Library will have a Membership Drive Oct. 5 at the Jasper Fire Hall, 205 E. Water St., from 5 - 7 p.m. Membership categories are student, $5; friend, $10; best friend, $25, and patron, $100.

Cowboys and cowgirls

The Cowgirl and Cowboy-Up pageant will be Oct. 6 at the Palace Theater in Kirbyville, ages 0-18 for girls and 0-5 for boys. Proceeds will go to CASA for children. For more information call 720-9475.

Woman's Civic Club

The Jasper Woman's Civic Club will sponsor a book sale during the Fall Festival Oct. 6 at the Jasper Fire Hall, 205 E. Water St., from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

1941 Class Reunion

Jasper High School class of 1941 will have their 66-year reunion Oct. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Catfish Cabin, Hwy. 96 North in Jasper. For more information call 384-2108.

JHS Alumni Association

The Jasper High School Alumni Association annual tailgat party will be Oct. 12 from 5-7 p.m. next to the football stadium. Life-time members eat free; otherwise, food is $3. Call 384-9993 for more information.

Walk for Hope

Jasper's annual Walk for Hope will be Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. - noon at the track field next to Few Primary School. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., forms are available at Party Perfect and Century 21. Survivors can contact Darlene Nolen at 384-8759.

1994 Class Reunion

Parent Conference Day

Jasper ISD campuses will be open from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Oct. 15 for parents to visit with teachers.

College planning

Jasper High School will hold the Making College Financial Planning Count program for parents from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium to help with financial aid advice.

Food bank

Harvest Church at 1501 S. Wheeler now offers a food bank the first Tuesday of each month from 9 - 11 a.m.

Master gardener

County agent Ricky Thompson is now accepting applications for an eightweek master gardener class to be held Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning in November. For more information, call the Texas Cooperative Extension office at 384-3721.

Christmas in the Park

Keep Jasper Beautiful

Senior Volunteers

Elder Advocate

Grief support

The Friends of Job helps those who have lost a child, grandchild or sibling. They meet the first and third Tuesday each month from 6:30-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church. For more information call 698-2356.

Caring Friends bereavement luncheon is held the third Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. at the Belle-Jim Hotel, hosted by Lakes Area Hospice (384-5995) and Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home (384-5781).
