BUNA'S NEXT FOUR CONTESTS
Sept. 28 Anahuac

Darrell Barbay. The Panthers are being led by the son of legendary Newton football coach Curtis Barbay this year and the results are starting to show. The Panthers return two key starters on their offense in Jacob Pesina and Keith Kingsberry but Buna will be seeking to avenge last year's district defeat at the hands of the Panthers.

Oct. 5 Open

Oct. 12 at Kountze

Buna returns to the District 24-2A wars with a road contest against the improved Kountze Lions. The Lions reeled off consecutive wins to start the season but now will face a stiff challenge in the high-scoring Cougars. Junior Dontae Barnes leads the Lions both offensively and defensively in this crucial district affair. It will be interesting to see how the bye week affects the Cougars.

Oct. 19 Hardin

It's homecoming for the Cougars and the Hardin Hornets will visit Cougar Stadium for their annual contest. Hardin will feature first-team all-district linebacker John Stelly, who led the team last year with 108 tackles and was also the leading rusher for the Hornets with more than 800 yards. Buna will have to overcome the looking-aheads as the Cougars face off against Hardin. On Oct. 26 looms the crucial district game of the season when Buna hosts East Chambers in a contest which is being predicted to be the battle for first place in District 24- 2A. But in order for that to come to fruition, Buna must take care of business in the district games prior.
