Men in short supply for 'Hugs' Don't Hug Me, "a love story with singing and stuff," is the first play of the season for Jasper Community Theater. The cast called for three men and two women, but with men in short supply, Amber and Shelby Stroman will play male roles. The play is the story of Gunnar (played by Gary Hanlon) who owns The Bunyan bar and is sick of winter and wants to move to Florida. His wife Clara (Cyndi Ezernack), however, loves Minnesota. Waitress Bernice (Yvonne Cole) is engaged to Knute (Amber Stroman), who wants The Bunyan and is jealous of a new salesman. The karaoke salesman is Aarvid (Shelby Stroman), who wants Bernice to become a singer. Backstage manager is Jodie Warner and sound technician, Michael Daniel. Performances will be Oct. 18-20 and Oct. 25- 26 at 7 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee on Oct. 27. For reservations call 384-8718 or 383-0535. |
